Kuranda is a beautiful little village located in the rainforest.

Kuranda is very well known for its markets, with two separate market locations– Original Markets and Heritage Markets. Both markets are open every day, offering a wide range of handmade goods, Aboriginal artefacts, wood, jewellery, and much more.

Kuranda Scenic Railway

When visiting Kuranda, an excellent way to see the natural scenery is to take the  Scenic Railway. You’ll travel through the rainforest and the rugged mountains on the historical Scenic Railway. Even from the train, you’ll still see amazing waterfalls, ravines and the lush rainforest.

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway

To take in the true beauty of Kuranda and the rainforest, the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is the perfect way to do it, even when visiting Cairns on a budget.

You’ll glide above the trees and through the mountains, providing excellent views of the rainforest and the Barron River.

Kuranda Butterfly Sanctuary

The  Butterfly Sanctuary is Australia’s largest butterfly exhibition. The wildlife park sits in the heart of Village, where you’ll see more than 1,500 tropical butterflies– all of which are hand raised.

You’ll be surrounded by colourful and vibrant butterflies, many of the butterflies will come right up to you for an amazing experience.
